Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were launched on 10th October 2015 at National SDGs conference organized by Planning Commission of Pakistan and UNDP Pakistan. Federal Minister Planning, Development & Reform Ahsan Iqbal accompanied by Federal Minister for Food Security Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Minister for Education Baleeghur Rahman and UN Resident Coordinator Neil Buhne inaugurated the launching of SDGs in Pakistan.

On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between Planning Commission of Pakistan and UN for implementation of SDGs in Pakistan. Federal Minister Planning, Development & Reform Ahsan Iqbal and Neil Buhne signed MoU on behalf of Planning Commission and UN respectively.

It is pertinent to be noted that Rahnuma-FPAP has carried out at extensive advocacy and lobbying campaign in pre SDGs scenario across Pakistan and on the basis of this campaign Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif constituted a high powered Prime Minister Task Force on SDGs. The Prime Minister Pakistan also Participated the UNGA session which finalized these SDGs.

Furthermore we are pressing government of Pakistan to rename the Parliamentary Committee on MDGs (our President and Member Provincial Legislative Assembly- Sindh, Ms. Mahtab Akber Rashdi is the member) as Parliamentary Committee on SDGs.
